Barcelona is the capital city of Catalonia; it has a population of 1,505, 581. It is located in the coast, surrounded by the Collserola Mountains to the north and the rivers Besos to the east and Llobregat to the west. Barcelona is less than 150 kms away from the Pyrenees. As it is located in the shores of the Mediterranean sea, it has a warm and welcoming weather, with nice temperatures throughout the year. The level of rainfall, that may be occasionally intense, is close to 1.000 mm per year. This favors the maintenance of the various green areas dotted about the city.
