Slow tourism: discovering Malaga unhurriedly

When I woke up, I headed over to the Carihuela Beach toe at a urta.

You learn how to do things in a hurry and in the most practical way possible when we travel around. We usually create a pocket idea of the places we are about to visit, so to speak. Certainly, a few days are not enough to pick up a decent amount of examples: the poet Keats was right: you would rather have an experience full of sensations, not knowledge. In case you do want it, it is mandatory to play your part and try not to be the person everybody in your family knows. Look: the old part of towns is perfect to walk around and slow strolling.

Being in Malaga started my walk at the Larios Street, under the canvas cover, and from there I headed over to the Antigua Casa de Guardia to taste the pajarete and the trasañejo. It seemed to me that, from a particular angle of the place, there was a man who was peacefully writing on his notebook, most likely an old city reporter dwelling upon this: not everything is about the sun, I do not have memories about the rain, although there were rainy days for sure, yet I have never been impressed with that nature gesture here in Malaga. As if I wanted to shake off his perceptive clumsiness, I saw he vehemently closed the notebook with his pen inside. That movement triggered mine too, that consisted in emptying my glass in just one sip. The waiter, actually a winemaker, interpreting my departure, wrote the check with clay on the board and, with an energetic puff, made the dust go away. That moment had just ended. It is clear that, a natural gesture says a lot more than a whole chapter. You just wish you could have witnessed that.

That wine sure tastes good, you know, either you repeat or not, you wind up going back to the smiling street, which is like pleasantly confused. I decided to ask, no apps at all, I took my time and talked to people. I entered various locals, just for the sake of messing up my appetite. Finally, I was advised to visit el Pimpi to eat some tapas and see a little bit of a flamenco show.

There are quite a few joints where you can run into an unexpected show, although there is no weather forecast that tells you where and when is the elf going to show up—there are people who can actually see that coming…There are people who see it coming and fee it…do you realize it? I kept asking myself at the third floor of the Petit Palace. I was completely worn out an I could not help looking at the cathedral through the window.
