What to visit in Calviá

With more than 50 km of Mediterranean coastline, it is normal that when we think of what to see in Calviá we think of its cliffs, islets, coves and beaches, but Calviá has much more than just the sea.

The municipality preserves many archaeological remains and sites, important monuments and has an enviable flora and fauna that you can discover with its numerous routes. So that you don't miss anything, here is our list of things to see in Calviá.

The Paseo of Calviá

Calviá is full of routes for cyclists and walkers, but if you are looking for something more accessible for the whole family to enjoy, the Paseo de Calviá is not to be missed. The ‘Green Lung of Calviá’ consists of 32 kilometres where you can enjoy the history of the municipality through its buildings and discover the best corners of the Sierra Tramuntana mountain range, including beaches and small coves.

Along the walk you will also find population centres, services, parks, beaches and viewpoints and rest areas where you can stop for a bite to eat and enjoy the incredible views. What's more, if it gets late, the route is illuminated at night.

Calvià Town

The village of Calvià is the ideal place to discover the typical beauty of this area of Mallorca thanks to its ancient architecture and historic streets, with buildings dating back to the 17th century and ruins dating as far back as 2,000 BC.

One of the most outstanding monuments is undoubtedly the Church of San Juan Bautista, built on the ruins of a 13th century church. It can only be visited during religious services or on Mondays, as it coincides with market day.

During your visit, don't miss the water pipes of Arab origin (still in use) such as Sa Galareia d'aigua de Valldurgent and Sa Font de Sa Corriola.

The Desembarkation Cross

This gigantic cross was built in 1929 to commemorate the seventh centenary of the landing and conquest of Mallorca by Jaume I. It is located in the cove of Santa Ponsa and features reliefs with different scenes such as the storms at sea, the descent from the ship or some of the main battles.
