Record go rent a car

This post is also available in: Spanish German

Over the last few years September has become one the most popular months to take a holiday. We’re not just talking about a great month for weekend escapes but also for trips of a week or longer.

Travelling in September is associated with various advantages such as quieter destinations and less tourism in addition to warm weather without the high temperatures of the previous two months. It’s clear that the ideal conditions depend on a number of different factors… but what’s certain is that travelling when the majority of people have already had their holidays and are back to the daily grind helps us to get our trip off on the right foot.

That’s why at Record go rent a car we’ve prepared a list of the ideal destinations for a trip this September. We hope that they’ll inspire you to take that trip or decide on where to take it.

Where to travel this September in Spain and Europe

  • Menorca

Enjoying the charming island of Menorca at your own pace and with fewer crowds is a luxury. A trip to Menorca in September is definitely one to consider for those who want to enjoy the Balearic Islands with the perfect combination of relaxation, nature, sun and sand… without the crowds. What’s more, by hiring a car in Menorca you’ll be able to explore the island at your own pace and visit its incredible sites such as Binibeca Vell.

  • Ibiza

Continuing in the Balearics we find one of the Med’s top destinations, Ibiza isn’t one to miss. Travelling to Ibiza in low season, without its nightclubs and huge crowds, you’ll be able to appreciate a different side to the island. A trip to Ibiza in September becomes a totally different experience. Enjoying Ibiza‘s best beaches and coves only gets better in September, with autumn just around the corner.

  • Alicante

Take a trip to the island of Tabarca, explore the typically Mediterranean town of Elche or the spectacular natural scenery of Peñon de Ifach. Add to this Alicante’s delicious local cuisine and famed paellas and you have an attractive and varied destination.

  • Barcelona

Fancy a city break this September? Barcelona is one of those destinations where you’ll never get bored. We’d go further and say you’ll be short of time to see all its many sites and do everything on your list in the ‘Ciudad Condal’. What’s more, add to all this the flexibility of a hire car in Barcelona and you’ll be able to escape the metropolis: follow a visit to Parque Güell with a tour of the region’s delightful towns.

  • Madrid

Along with Barcelona, we can’t forget Spain’s other biggest city. Because September is a great month to… Discover one of Madrid’s best Italian restaurants? Or maybe even visit some of the Madrid region’s prettiest towns in your car hire Madrid. How about beer and tapas in the La Latina neighbourhood or living a foodie’s dream at Madrid’s Gastronomic Markets?

  • Bilbao

A visit to the capital of Vizcaya after Bilbao’s Semana Grande is over is the perfect moment to explore the city with some peace and quiet. And if you want to venture outside the confines of the historic centre, you can take advantage of Record go Bilbao‘s fantastic offers to explore all that the Basque Country has to offer.

  • Malaga

The Costa del Sol is very much worth the visit. Its wealth of stunning scenery and quality beaches, not to mention the possibility of exploring Picasso’s Malaga, a beautiful autumn hike in the hills of Malaga or a tour of the coast in your car hire Malaga. Other spectacular sites in the region include the Torcal de Antequera and its ancient dolmens etc. etc…

  • Seville

The Andalusian capital lends itself to a leisurely autumn escape, although an express 3-day visit is also a great option. It‘s true that a visit to Seville or the south in general at the height of summer might seem a high risk activity. But during the month of September and with autumn just round the corner temperatures tend to be more pleasant and with the days still long, it‘s the ideal month to take advantage of a visit to Seville and the wider region.

  • Lisbon

You are sure to have a fantastic time if you visit Portugal. Even if you’ve already visited Lisbon, you’ll undoubtedly want to go back again, particularly during a month as special as September… Just reserve your Lisbon Airport rental car, then as soon as you land at Humberto Delgado (or Portela) Airport you can begin your journey to explore some magical and unique destinations: take a tour of the castles in Sintra, see all the sites in Cascais or pay a visit to Estoril. There is so much to see and enjoy in Lisbon!

  • Athens

One of the most popular travel options in Europe and the Mediterranean is to explore the Greek islands. But when it comes to capitals and places of interest, discovering a destination as unmissable as Athens is reason enough to visit the Hellenic Republic.
